The Coward

1- What is exactly Big Foot's secret?
     ★His secret was that he was not strong, or fierce, as he seemed.


2-Naipaul, the author, has written the narrative part of the story in Standard english and the dialogue in Trinidaian dialect. Why do you think he did this? Would it be better if it were written entirely in Standard english?
   ★ I think that he didi that so that we can realize they lived there. I also think it is Ok like this because we can understand what the author is trying to say, and we can understand too that thay lived there.


3- Is "The Coward" a good title for the story?
     ★I think " The Coward" is a bad tittle for the story, because Big Foot wasn't a coward, he just wasn't fierce as he saw, and that that is not being a coward. A good tittle for the story would be "The 'strong' man".

4- What do you think the them of the story is?
    ★The theme is; deception.

5- Choose one passage from the text you consider to be important and explain why.
    ★ "Big Foot was really big, and really black, and everyone in Miguel street was afraid of him" I think this is important because this was the topic of the story; that everybody was afraid of Big Foot?
