Final Task

Today on Writing class, we were asked to write a diary entry, as if we were the main character of the story "The Prison", Tommy Castelli.

September, 6
  Today it was a normal, boring day on the candy store. I spent all the day there, except for that hour that Rosa replaced me.
  A normal day, nothing special, nothing special excepting a girl that came today into the candy store. This girl always comes on Monday, to buy some paper. Today, she asked for the same. I went to the back of the store to take it. On the way, I saw the girl, reflected on a mirror Rosa decided to put, taking two candy bars from the box. She was stealing them. And I know what kind of things can happen to you because of stealing. I still remember when my father told me he had arranged my marriage and job for the rest of my life. I still remember the panic I felt when I escaped to Texas. And when I came back nothing had changed. Since then, I’m trapped here, with Rosa, in the candy store.
  I don’t want that to happen to her.
  I let her go away without saying anything. I wasn’t brave enough to tell her something. She paid for the paper and left.


September, 20
  The girl from the paper came again. She asked for the paper, I went back to the store to bring it. She stole the candy bars again. I saw her through the mirror. I didn’t tell her anything. She paid and left, exactly the same way last week.
  I don’t know how to tell her. I don’t want her to get scared.
