FCE Writing Practice

  In the Language class with Andrea, we were asked to write a story starting with the following phrase: "When he found his seat on the plane, Sam recognized the person sitting on the seat next to him."
  We made this mindmap to help us with the writing.

The story had to;
- Have simple past and past continuous (4 examples).
- Have past perfect (2 examples).
- Have direct speech (3 examples).
- Have connectors (6 examples).
- Have good descriptive adjectives (7 examples).
- Have between 150 and 180 words.

Here is the story!

  When he found his seat on the plane, Sam recognized the person sitting on the seat next to him. She was his ex-girlfriend, Mary. She was travelling with a man, more good-looking than him. First, he didn't know what to do, however he decided to talk to her.
  "Hi Mary" he said "How are you doing?"
   She seemed very surprised when she said "Sam! It is great to see you!" she glanced at the man sitting next to her "He is my new boyfriend, Max".
  Mary had left Sam one month ago. He felt weird, what's more, lonely, and he didn't want Mary to know he was feeling that way, so he had decided to lie a little bit about this last month.
  "Oh! Good to hear that!" he said "Actually, I have a new girlfriend too, she is gorgeous, and at home. Moreover, she is pregnant. I am here because of my new job, I must say I get really well paid. What about you?"
  Mary felt grateful but a little bit disappointed as he had forgotten her really quickly.
