Is honesty important?

   Nowadays, honesty is a very appreciated trait among people. Everybody feels grateful for having one friend who will always tell them the truth. However, sometimes being honest might not be the best thing to do. To what extent is honesty important?

   With friends or family, it is very important to be honest. Friends and family will trust you. It is crucial to be honest, mostly when they ask you for advice or opinions about their actions. It is also essential to be honest to people close to you, because they will probably return that honesty.

   Being honest to ourselves is determining. We sometimes lie to ourselves, and in doing so, we ignore our problems or whatever does not make us happy. This is a harmful thing to do; turning a blind eye on our problems will not do anything to solve them. In order to move on, we need to be honest to ourselves.

   In conclusion, honesty is a significant factor in our lives. To friends, family or ourselves, it is something even necessary. I believe we should try to be more honest, as it will end up benefiting us.
